The extension of the airport Schönefeld to the new Airport Berlin-Brandenburg Intl. (BBI) is meaningful and nobody questions it seriously. The new airport secures the existing jobs in Tegel (TXL) and Schönefeld (SXF) and creates new jobs. Thus the extension makes an important contribution for the future development of the region Berlin-Brandenburg. Most citizens of Berlin however cannot comprehend the intentions of the Senate of Berlin for closing the City Airport Berlin-Tempelhof. Members of the senate want the citizens of Berlin to believe, keeping Tempelhof airport at business would endanger the economic viability of BBI and the connected jobs. The following pages intend to point out reasonable solutions and inform about the necessaty to vote for the survival of the famous Tempelhof airport in the referendum on April 27th, 2008. We will point out that environment protection, noise protection and nature protection at the Tempelhof airport are no contradiction to present air traffic and are economically possible. Our citizens' initiative "Be-4-Tempelhof" wants, above party lines, to contribute compiling problem solutions, to mediate between the different points of view and to strengthen our city.
